France Welcomes Ceasefire by Parties to Conflict in Sudan

France welcomed the acceptance by the parties to the Sudan conflict of a 72-hour ceasefire, secured thanks to the efforts of the United States. 

In a statement by the French Foreign Minitry, it called on all the parties to fully respect this cessation of fighting, particularly to make it easier for humanitarian aid to reach the population and ensure the safety of those civilians still in areas of confrontation.

In conjunction with its regional and international partners, France will be vigilant about actual compliance with the cessation of hostilities, which must enable progress towards a permanent ceasefire and the launch of inclusive political negotiations, to identify a way out of the crisis.

France thanked General Burhan and General Hemedti for their cooperation in operations to evacuate its nationals.
