French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that France is prepared to assist Spain in response to the severe floods that have impacted several regions in the southeast of the country.
Speaking on Thursday morning, Barrot stated that approximately 250 French firefighters stand ready to intervene if Spain accepts their help to combat this natural disaster.
The floods have tragically resulted in the deaths of at least 95 individuals across the Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha regions.
Barrot noted that around 4,000 French citizens reside in the Valencia area. While he currently has no reports of casualties among them, he emphasized that it is impossible to rule out such a possibility.
He reassured that French consulate and embassy services are available to support their nationals.
The heavy rainfall that swept across southeastern Spain has led to catastrophic flooding, causing chaos in affected areas and isolating them from the rest of the country.
The official agency responsible for coordinating relief efforts reported that the death toll has risen to 95.
Emergency services previously indicated that they are facing challenges in reaching numerous towns and villages.
