France Insists on China's Role for Peace in Ukraine

On Wednesday evening, France’s Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna considered that China has an important role that it can play "for the sake of peace and stability in the world," when she received her Chinese counterpart in Paris.

At the start of her meeting with her Chinese counterpart, Qin Gang, Colonna said her country recognize the importance of China's role on the world stage and the importance of the role it can play for peace and stability in the world.

During the meeting, she reiterated the need for Beijing to persuade Moscow to return to full respect for the Charter of the United Nations.

Colonna had called on China on Wednesday to harness its "relations with Russia" to push Moscow forward on the peace path, during a meeting in the Elysee with her German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, who attended a session of the French government.

"It is necessary for China to use its relations with Russia to make it realize that it is at an impasse and to ask it to return to the right path in order to return to peace and not to continue the war," Colonna noted.
