France has expressed its deep concern over the escalation of tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anne Claire Legendre said on Monday.
In a statement, Legendre said that France condemns the acts of violence committed by Israeli settlers that target civilians and their property, stressing that this violence is unacceptable and must stop.
Moreover, France called on Israeli authorities to bring perpetrators of violence to justice so that they could be held accountable for their actions before the competent judicial authorities.
Furthermore, France also affirmed that colonialism is illegal under international law, fuels tensions on the ground, and constitutes a fundamental obstacle to peace.
