French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an immediate halt to the supply of weapons to Israel that could be used in its ongoing military operations in Gaza.

In a statement made during an interview with France Inter, Macron emphasized the importance of seeking a political solution to the escalating situation in the region.

Macron underlined that the priority should be de-escalation and a return to diplomacy, stating that continuing to arm Israel only fuels the conflict in Gaza.

He clarified that France is not supplying any arms for use in the war and stressed that preventing further escalation in Lebanon is also a critical focus. According to him, Lebanon must not become "another Gaza."

The United States, which is Israel's largest supplier of arms, accounted for around 69% of Israel's weapons imports between 2019 and 2023, as reported by Le Parisien.

The US continues to play a significant role in bolstering Israel's military capabilities. Last month, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced an additional $8.7 billion aid package from the U.S. to support its ongoing military operations.

This package includes $3.5 billion for essential military procurement and another $5.2 billion for air defense systems.
