On Tuesday, the fighting intensified in Sudan between the army and the “rapid support” forces for the fourth day in a row.

The Sudanese army used the air force in an intense bombardment of the army’s general headquarters, as the “rapid support” forces took control of parts of it.

The battle escalated in the vicinity of the General Command, hours before the start of a 24-hour truce, agreed upon by the two parties, mediated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who contacted the army commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the commander of the “rapid support” team, Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, “Hemedti.”

Blinken announced that he had urged both Al-Burhan and Hamidti, in two phone calls, to "agree to a 24-day ceasefire.

He also called both the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and the Emirati, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, for this purpose."

For his part, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, said yesterday that the bombing operations have besieged thousands of civilians and forced them to stay in their homes.

In Geneva, Türk added that many people lived for four straight days without electricity, water, or means of obtaining food or medicine.
