Former Italian president Giorgio Napolitano Passed away on Friday at the age of 98 years old.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's office posted her condolences over the death of the veteran politician.
Moreover, Pope Francis commented on the news, sending his condolences to Napolitano's wife, and family.
He posted: "I gratefully recall the personal meetings I had with him, during which I appreciated his humanity and foresight in making important choices with rectitude, especially at delicate times for the life of the country."
Napolitano came to the office in 2006 and was elected for a second seven-year term in 2013. However, he left the office in 2015 due to his age.
He made huge efforts in saving Italy from the crisis of debt in 2011.
