On Sunday, Dr. Abdel Shakour Shaalan, the former Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), passed away after spending his lifetime in the prestigious international institution for fifty years, He got a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
Shaalan spent nearly 54 years from January 1961 to November 2014 and continued to 2019 in a special capacity.
On January 3, 2011, Shaalan, the representative of Egypt and the Arab countries in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) board, marked his 50th year of service to the IMF.
He continued to work at the IMF for several years after that as a Special Advisor to the Managing Director until 2019.
