Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati said that he "informed the Turkish Foreign Minister about the latest developments in Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza."

During a press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Turkish Hakan Fidan at Tahrir Palace in Cairo, he explained that the two ministers stressed the need to avoid an explosion of the situation in the West Bank as a result of provocative settlement policies."

He added: "We stressed Egypt's complete rejection of the Israeli assassination policy and fueling the conflict in the region, and we stressed the need to avoid the situation getting out of control."

He continued: "We must work as quickly as possible to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and resume full aid to the Gaza Strip."

The Turkish Foreign Minister is visiting Egypt on a two-day visit that began yesterday, Sunday, during which he met with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and the Turkish Foreign Minister, and they discussed ways to advance relations between the Arab League and Turkey in the political, economic and other fields during the next stage.
