Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said strategic balance is a long-standing doctrine governing Egyptian foreign policy and has taken clearer and more defined shape since President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi assumed office.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a panel discussion on the book Strategic Balance: Features of Egyptian Foreign Policy Over Ten Years, held on the sidelines of the Cairo International Book Fair. The event was attended by political thinkers, diplomats, and media figures.
He said Egypt is operating amid exceptional regional and international conditions marked by uncertainty and rapid change, noting that the world is currently in a transitional phase that is neither unipolar nor fully multipolar. He added that this fluid global environment has direct implications for regional stability and international relations.
The foreign minister said any major or mid-sized state must base its foreign policy on a clear governing doctrine. He explained that Egypt’s strategic balance approach allows flexibility in responding to regional and global developments while safeguarding national interests.
