Egypt's health strategies to eliminate hepatitis C have been praised by American Forbes Magazine.
This came after the World Bank and the World Health Organization have also declared that Egypt has successfully eliminated hepatitis C from its entire population.
Forbes highlighted Egypt's 100 Million Healthy Lives campaign, which was designed by the government to screen and treat the entire population over the age of 12, including those in prison and the army.
The campaign was launched with a loan of around $250 million, which was half of a $530 million loan from the World Bank.
Forbes identified political will, the organization of public health systems, and the cost of diagnostic tests and treatment as the main barriers and causes that disrupted the government before implementing the program.
However, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the management of Egypt's Ministry of Health, the program was implemented successfully in just seven months.
