For 1st Time, Russian Prosecutor General Visits Egypt

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov arrived in Cairo for the first time to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation. 

The delegation, headed by Igor Krasnov, is visiting Egypt at the invitation of the Egyptian prosecutor-general, Hamada El-Sawy. 

Within the framework of the visit, negotiations are scheduled to take place between the Russian prosecutor-general and his Egyptian counterpart and other officials. 

In June 2022, the prosecutor General of Russia and his Egyptian counterpart held a meeting in St. Petersburg. Hamada El-Sawy then arrived in Russia at the invitation of his Russian counterpart to participate in the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. During this meeting, a cooperation program was signed between the Office of the prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the Office of the prosecutor General of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the period of 2022-2024.

 As part of the implementation of this program, round tables were held in Moscow and Cairo on combating cybercrime, illegal use of virtual currency and protecting the rights of businessmen. 

An Egyptian delegation is scheduled to visit Moscow to discuss issues of combating terrorism and extremism.

In addition, events are held at the expert level, as well as meetings of the officials of the departments of  prosecutors general's offices in Russia and Egypt. Therefore, in 2021, consultations of heads of international departments were held via videoconference.  In 2022 in Cairo, the representative of the Russian Public Prosecution Office participated in the consultations on the development of a global convention to combat the use of information and communication technology for criminal purposes. A meeting was held for the employees of the Russian Public Prosecution Office with the head of the international cooperation and human rights protection departments at the Office of the Attorney General of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
