Fodor's Travel advises against trying to cram Luxor's luxurious temples into a five-day itinerary, as the city requires more time to fully experience its rich history and daily life.
Cairo, on the other hand, is highly recommended for its thousands of mosques and minarets. On the first day, Fodor's Travel suggests visiting the Sultan Hassan Mosque, the al-Rifai Mosque, and the Muhammad Ali Mosque in the Citadel.
