Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the President-designate of the 2022 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Summit (COP27), held a meeting on Tuesday with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
The meeting came, on the sidelines of the "Petersburg Climate Dialogue", hosted in Berlin, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

On Monday, Shoukry said that the upcoming climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh tops the Egyptian state’s concerns, expressing his hope to reach an agreement on the climate issue during the “Petersburg Dialogue”.
During his speech at the opening of “Petersburg Climate Dialogue”, Shoukry added that Egypt welcomes all international support aimed at the success of the upcoming climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.
“Climate change is causing huge losses all over the world,” FM stressed.
Moreover, Egypt’s top diplomat stressed that all world countries should work to bridge the gaps related to climate issues.
In addition, Shoukry expressed his hope to reach an agreement that would help solve the climate change crisis, adding: “In the past, there was not enough attention to climate change issue and the fight against climate change.”
