Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry received on Monday, United Nations (UN) special envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, in order to discuss developments in the Yemeni crisis, and support all efforts to reach sustainable solutions that meet the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people regarding achieving stability, preserving the sovereignty and safety of their country.
During their meeting, Shoukry stressed the commitment of the Egyptian side to support United Nations (UN) role in Yemen, and the efforts being made aimed at consolidating the path of calm and supporting the completion of the political solution, as well as alleviating the humanitarian burdens on the brotherly Yemeni people.
On his part, UN envoy was keen to inform Shoukry of the results of his contacts with the various Yemeni and regional parties.
In this regard, Egyptian FM stressed Egypt's position towards the importance of supporting an inclusive political process for all Yemeni parties, which preserves the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Yemeni people, and at the same time contributes to dealing with the concerns of the brothers in Yemen on the economic and humanitarian levels.
On his part, UN envoy to Yemen expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian side on the political and humanitarian tracks to resolve the situation and end the crisis in Yemen, hailing Egypt's hosting of large numbers of Yemeni brothers on its lands and its care for them.
Moreover, he also underlined key role played by Egypt in facilitating the process of emptying the Safer oil reservoir.
Furthermore, the meeting dealt with the exchange of views and assessments on a number of regional and international developments and their impact on the Yemeni issue.
