FM Says Egypt Keen on Developing Relations with Russia

Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry said on Monday that Egypt is always keen on developing bilateral ties between Cairo and Moscow.

 

In a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Shoukry pointed out to the importance of relations between both countries.

 

He also added that their talks touched on various key issues including, the Palestinian cause, stressing that Egypt supports Moscow's initiative to activate the work of the international quartet, comprised of the European Union (EU), Russia, United Nations (UN), and the United States (US).

 

Moreover, Shoukry referred to Egypt's cooperative role within the framework of the Geneva mechanism to activate the peace process in the Middle East.

 

Concerning Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) crisis, FM noted that Russia has a good understanding of the issue, stressing that Egypt would not accept any unilateral acts.

 

Shoukry also praised Russia's key role either at the regional or international levels.
