Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Saturday with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Weitkopf, as part of ongoing coordination and consultation between Egypt and United States (U.S.) regarding the rapidly escalating situation in the region.
The two sides discussed the alarming developments stemming from the military escalation between Israel and Iran, which poses a serious threat to regional security and stability.
Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need to halt the escalation, establish a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, and resume negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear program.
He stressed that there are no military solutions to conflicts, affirming that peaceful settlement and political dialogue remain the only viable paths to achieving sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East.
For his part, Weitkopf shared with Abdelatty the U.S. perspective on the unfolding situation and outlined the efforts being made to give diplomacy a chance to contain the crisis.
