Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates’ Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, commended the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany across various fields during his meeting with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze.
Tamim Khalil, official spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Atty praised the constructive role played by Germany in supporting development projects in Egypt, especially as Germany is one of Egypt’s most important development partners, expressing aspirations for further developmental cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, he welcomed the results of the governmental negotiations between Egypt and Germany on development, held in Berlin on November 17, which aimed to implement development projects in Egypt.
FM also expressed appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with Germany in the field of labour mobility and the efforts of the Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration, noting that cooperation in this area represents a good opportunity for mutual benefit between the two countries.
The spokesperson added that Abdelatty briefed the German official on the latest developments concerning the Gaza Strip, reviewing the efforts being made to host the conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction.
In this regard, he noted the keenness for effective German participation in the conference.
He highlighted the vital role played by UNRWA and the necessity of continuing its funding, stressing that its role is indispensable and cannot be replaced.
During the meeting, FM also discussed the numerous opportunities for trilateral cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the African continent, especially in the fields of development and water resource management.
He also pointed to the support provided by Egypt in the fields of energy and development, and its prominent role in supporting peace and security on the continent.
Moreiver, Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation between the two sides in Africa, including through the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).
He was also keen to brief the German Minister on the main features of the Suez and Red Sea Initiative (StREAM), noting that the initiative aims to link economic, developmental, and environmental frameworks and build the capacities of the Red Sea littoral states.
The meeting also addressed developments in Sudan, where Abdelatty condemned the grave violations witnessed in the Al-Fashir area and reviewed the role Egypt is playing within the Quad Mechanism to halt the conflict and preserve the unity and territorial integrity of the Sudanese state.
He also stressed the need for intensified international efforts to achieve a ceasefire and provide safe corridors to ensure the access of humanitarian aid, affirming Egypt's commitment to facilitating aid access in coordination with international institutions and the global community in this regard.
