Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry headed to Marrakech city, earlier Tuesday to participate in meetings of Arab-Russian Forum hosted by Morocco.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid also noted that this is the sixth session of the Arab-Russian Forum, which was officially launched for the first time in 2009 under a memorandum of understanding between the Arab League and Russia.

The last session was hosted by the Russian capital Moscow in 2019.

The spokesman added that the importance of the forum has increased in recent years as a platform for exchanging views and coordinating positions on various issues at the regional and international levels, taking into account the common interests and priorities that unite the Arab and Russian sides in many political, economic, and commercial areas.

On the other hand, Abu Zaid revealed that Minister Shukri is scheduled to hold several meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the forum.

These meetings are aimed at consulting on a number of important regional and international files, including the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and ways to end it as soon as possible.
