FM, Head of Iraqi Wisdom Movement Hold Talks in Cairo

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received on Sunday, Ammar al-Hakim, head of Iraqi Wisdom Movement, who is currently visiting Cairo. 

During their meeting, Shoukry welcomed Ammar al-Hakim, expressing appreciation for his role in strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries.

Moreover, Shoukry also affirmed Egypt's keenness to advance cooperation with Iraq, highlighting the convening of the joint Egyptian-Iraqi higher committee at the level of prime ministers (s) of both countries in Cairo soon.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the Foreign Minister valued Ammar al-Hakim's keenness to strengthen economic relations between with Egypt, especially with regard to the opportunities for Egyptian companies to contribute to development and reconstruction projects in Iraq, in light of the extensive experience that these companies possess.

In this context, Shoukry stressed the interest that Egypt attaches to the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan to link the interests of the three countries, and the aspiration to implement agreed cooperation projects as soon as possible.

Furthermore, FM also expressed Egypt's full support for Iraq in its war against terrorism, based on its support for the safety, security and stability of brotherly Iraq.

The meeting also tackled a number of regional issues of common priority, as the two sides affirmed their keenness to continue coordination and consultations between two countries, in a ways to enhance stability in the region.
