Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Cairo is intensifying diplomatic efforts at both regional and international levels to halt Israeli violations and incursions into Lebanese territory, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.

In his remarks, Abdelatty said the moves come under directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as part of broader efforts to contain escalating tensions along the Lebanese front.

He further noted that Egypt is conducting intensive contacts with key regional and international actors to de-escalate the situation and prevent further deterioration. “The goal is to achieve a comprehensive calm that preserves Lebanon’s security and stability and prevents the region from sliding into a wider conflict,” he said.

Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s firm support for the Lebanese state and its national institutions, underscoring the importance of enabling them to assert full sovereignty over all Lebanese territory. He highlighted that consolidating state authority—particularly ensuring that weapons remain under official state control—is essential for long-term stability.

“The stability of Lebanon can only be achieved by strengthening state institutions and enhancing their ability to manage all aspects of sovereignty,” he said, noting that such efforts are key to ensuring security for the Lebanese people.

Egypt has repeatedly positioned itself as a mediator in regional crises, advocating diplomatic solutions amid rising tensions between Israel and armed groups in southern Lebanon.
