FM Discuss Coop with German Counterpart

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry recently received a phone call from the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, on July 5th to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate on issues of mutual interest, particularly in regards to Sudan.

According to Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the call, both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Cairo and Berlin in various fields. They also commended the momentum in economic cooperation between the two countries and stressed the need to continue developing this cooperation to serve the interests of both nations.

Additionally, the call addressed the situation in Sudan, where Minister Shoukry reviewed Egypt's efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis and stressed the importance of dialogue to resolve the disputes in Sudan. He also emphasized the top priority that Egypt gives to the security and safety of the Sudanese people, welcoming Sudanese brothers to Egypt and supporting border crossings with necessary medical, relief, and humanitarian supplies to support Sudanese refugees.

On another note, the call also touched on the deteriorating security situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly following the recent Israeli attack on the city and camp of Jenin. Minister Shoukry expressed Egypt's concern over the continuous Israeli violations and attacks on Palestinian rights, stressing the responsibility of the international community, particularly influential countries, to put an end to the cycle of violence and provide protection for the Palestinian people.

Finally, the two ministers agreed to continue communicating and consulting on regional developments and work together to resolve the Sudanese crisis and calm the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
