The first phase of the French University in Egypt is scheduled to officially open next September, marking a major milestone in academic cooperation between Egypt and France.

The university is considered one of the flagship projects in Egypt’s higher education sector and a strategic pillar in the longstanding partnership between Cairo and Paris.

The project aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy, which seeks to expand smart universities and strengthen international academic partnerships inside the country. The institution combines French academic standards with Egypt’s development priorities to prepare graduates with globally competitive skills through dual-degree programmes and trilingual education in Arabic, French, and English.

The initiative has received strong political backing from both Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron as part of broader efforts to modernize Egypt’s higher education system and expand international and technological universities.

Officials describe the university as a strategic academic partnership designed to strengthen educational and scientific cooperation while establishing a regional center for innovation, research, and academic excellence.

The French University in Egypt operates as a non-profit private institution established under a cultural and educational cooperation agreement between Egypt and France.
