Many fires are still active in southern Italy and the largest number is now recorded in the Puglia region.
And although the large blaze that raged across the Puglia coast overnight has already been brought under control by firefighting brigades, there are a number of other fires.
The Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sierra indicated that those fires that broke out in the country during the past two days destroyed more than 100 municipalities and caused damages exceeding 260 million euros, including 200 million euros in the agricultural sector.
Since Sunday, firefighters have put out 3,232 fires in Puglia, Sicily, Calabria, and Sardinia.
9846 firefighters participated in rescue operations in 4 regions in Sicily alone, and firefighters intervened to put out 1,414 forest fires, the largest of them, according to data from the Italian Civil Protection.
