SEE - September 1st: Officials launched a campaign against bullying among school students which was noticed in some places
The incident was made public by media sources.
The phenomenon, which spreads when schools are preparing to welcome students for a new academic year, was an undergoing concern for officials at Ministry of Education to curb some bad behavior capable to deeply affect the personal traits of Egyptian students and, consequently, next generation.
Yousra Allam, education minister’s advisor for marketing and promotion, engineered the campaign under the title “I’m against bullying”, in cooperation with UNICEF and National Council for Childhood and Motherhood.
The campaign defines the phenomenon as “deliberate negative behavior performed by one student or more against other one, happening frequently and continuously. They can be verbal, such as threats, rebuke, irritation and insults. It can also be physical such as beating, pushing or kicking. They can also be through flattering faces or doing inappropriate signs, deliberately to isolate a person from a group.
The campaign aims to raise the attention and consciousness with regard to this phenomenon and shed the light over the aspired role of the teacher as well as parents to fight and put an end to this proposed danger for students.
In this regard, global studies indicate that one in eight high school students do not go to their schools, at least for one day a -week, because of their fear from other bullying students.
The campaign has already kicked off on social media in August 29th, and the TV ads as well as street banners are expected to feature in several places starting from September 6th.
