Farouk Hosny Mourns Iconic Gazbia Sirry

Legendary artist, former Minister of Culture, and the Founder of Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts Farouk Hosny mourned the death of iconic and influential artist Gazbia Sirry who passed away on Thursday.

Hosny said in a statement: "With a heavy and sorrowful heart, I mourn the death of veteran artist Gazbia Sirry who influenced the fine arts scene with her creativity, innovation, and boldness."

He added: "She will remain an immortal, shining mark in the history of Egyptian modern and contemporary arts."

Hosny concluded his statement, saying: "I pray to God to cast patience and consolation upon her family, friends, admirers, and students."

The renowned Egyptian artist passed away this morning at the age of 96. She was one of the earliest and most successful female figures who left unforgettable contributions to the scene of fine arts in Egypt.

In addition, she presented several artistic waves and tendencies throughout her life-long career.
