A tripartite summit is on the table in Kuwait among Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Algerian President Abdel Majid Tebboune to discuss the upcoming Arab summit.

Earlier yesterday, President Sisi paid a visit to Kuwait, where he held bilateral talks with the Emir and the crown prince.

Algerian diplomatic sources revealed Wednesday that the agenda of the upcoming Arab summit scheduled for the end of this year will be the focus of discussions between the three leaders, according to media reports.

These are the three capitals agreed on “Syria’s return to the Arab League,” while Tebboune’s visit to Kuwait also comes as he chairs the “Economic Summit.”

The Algerian Presidency stated on Wednesday that Tebboune’s visit to Kuwait "aims at consolidating bilateral relations and strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples."

Kuwait is the fifth Arab station since President Tebboune took office at the end of 2019, after Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Egypt, and Qatar.

The same Algerian sources suggested that the Algerian president’s visit to Qatar was also linked to the "Qatari reservation" on Syria’s return to the League of Arab States, which means – according to the same reports – that the holding of the tripartite summit in Kuwait "will pave the way for arrangements for a comprehensive Arab summit," according to an Algerian approach.

It converges with the approaches of Arab capitals, including Cairo and Kuwait, especially with regard to the return of Damascus to the Arab entity.
