Sada El Bald English (SEE) conducted a phone interview with a member of the US House of Representatives Mehdi Afifi, where he unveiled the reasons behind the ousting of US House Speaker Republican Kevin McCarthy.
The member of the Democratic Party attributed this recent issue to a group of extremists known as the "Trumps," who wield significant influence and are causing a great deal of disagreement between Democrats and Republicans. "This is further exacerbating divisions within American society," he warned.
Afifi has explained that McCarthy became Speaker of the House only after making several concessions and changes to the Council's procedures over the years. "One of the most notable changes was the inclusion of a new decision that permits the removal of the president if a single member of the House of Representatives demands it. The extremists added this decision to ensure McCarthy's acceptance as Speaker, and he agreed to it," the member of the Democratic Party noted.
He continued: "Despite McCarthy's attempts to garner support from some Democrats, the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives declined to support him, resulting in a majority vote for his removal. McCarthy was impeached after 10 Republicans cast their votes against him."
Afifi concluded that Rep. Patrick McHenry is a temporary speaker until someone else is elected and does not have the same authority as the actual president. "Currently, there are eight other candidates vying for the presidency of the House of Representatives, with Matt Gates leading the pack."
