European Union foreign policy representative Josep Borrell said that half of the Gaza Strip was completely destroyed, which is unacceptable, stressing that the current crisis in the Strip must be resolved.
He added during his speech at the Union for the Mediterranean, broadcast by Cairo News Channel: “We thank Egypt and Qatar for their efforts in reaching a truce in Gaza... and we affirm that the expansion of settlement construction is a flagrant violation of international law.”
A humanitarian truce began in the Gaza Strip at 7:00 am on Friday, to bring humanitarian aid to civilians inside the besieged Strip, this truce was agreed upon by the Palestinian factions and the Israeli occupation army, after intense Egyptian, Qatari and American efforts.
This truce is the first of its kind since the start of the violent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, which has so far resulted in the martyrdom of more than 15,000 Palestinians.
