The European Union has allocated €250,000 to assist victims of the recent hailstorm and heavy rains that struck the northeastern Indian state of Manipur in early May.

According to a press release from the European Union External Action Service, this humanitarian aid is critical for those in the most severely affected areas.

The aid will be distributed by the EU's humanitarian partner, ADRA, benefiting over 1,500 vulnerable families.

Priority will be given to distributing food supplies and emergency shelter kits to support individuals whose livelihoods and homes have been impacted by the storm.

This assistance will also help communities rebuild their homes and recover from the storm's adverse effects.

Manipur, known for its scenic landscapes and diverse culture, has recently been grappling with severe weather conditions.

The hailstorm and heavy rains in May caused significant damage to infrastructure, homes, and agriculture, exacerbating the vulnerabilities of already struggling communities.
