Today, Monday, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union adopted a new, seventh package of sanctions against Iran.
This came in a statement issued by Sweden, which currently presides over the Council of the EU.
The statement stressed that these sanctions were taken because of "violations of human rights by the Iranian authorities."
"Today the European Union sent another clear signal to Iran. The International Affairs Council adopted the seventh package of sanctions against individuals, organizations, and institutions found guilty of human rights violations in Iran," the statement noted.
