Representatives of the members of the European Union (EU) failed to reach a wide-spectrum agreement to handle the crisis of immigration.
The EU diplomats weren’t able over Wednesday talks on crisis rules, which are part of a sweeping reform of the asylum issue within the European Union (EU), to mitigate concerns of the 27-member bloc over the influx of immigrants from Africa and other parts of the world.
And the failure of the ambassadors of the 27 European Union member states in Brussels to reach an agreement on a common position before the planned negotiations with the European Parliament regarding the details of the draft law in this regard.
Spain, which is currently chairing the EU negotiations, wanted a settlement by the end of this month, but talks between member states are expected to continue for a few more months.
Diplomats said that Germany, the Netherlands, and Slovakia abstained from voting on the current proposal, while Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Austria voted against it.
