The European Union expressed grave concerns over the devastating humanitarian situation affecting all aspects of life in the region, including food, shelter, education, and healthcare.

During the Cairo Ministerial Conference aimed at enhancing the humanitarian response in Gaza, the EU has committed more than €300 million and deployed all available humanitarian instruments to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people. Additionally, the EU has coordinated over 60 humanitarian air bridge flights to deliver critical assistance to the area.

However, the EU stressed that these efforts require proper conditions to be fully effective. Echoing calls from various international partners, the EU urged for safe and unrestricted access for humanitarian goods and personnel. It also called for the opening of all routes for international aid and commercial imports at full capacity and demanded immediate actions to restore law and order and prevent the looting of aid supplies.

The statement also reiterated the EU's support for the UN system, particularly emphasizing the indispensable role of UNRWA in the region.

Reflecting on its long-standing commitment to a fair and lasting peace, the EU reaffirmed its support for the two-state solution as the foundation for peace in the region. It also highlighted its support for the stabilization and revitalization of the Palestinian Authority, which it views as crucial for future governance, the eventual reconstruction of Gaza, and maintaining a viable political horizon.

To support these goals, the EU is implementing an ambitious multi-annual response package aimed at addressing both the immediate fiscal needs and the long-term structural challenges of the Palestinian Authority. This package is aligned with the Palestinian Reform Agenda and the commitments of international partners.
