Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaya Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, welcomed the Arab reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which was recently presented at the Cairo Summit and which was also adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The foreign ministers of four European countries, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, supported the plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which is estimated to cost about $53 billion, according to the Spanish newspaper 20 Minutos.
The foreign ministers of the four countries said: "This plan provides a realistic path to rebuilding Gaza and promises, if implemented, to improve the living conditions of Palestinians in Gaza quickly and sustainably."
The four European countries said they are committed to cooperating with the Arab initiative, while affirming their position that Hamas forces should not be allowed to rule Gaza or threaten Israel.
