Ethiopia launched air strikes on the Tigray region, where the strike carried out by the Ethiopian army killed 56 people and wounded 30.
"An air strike in Ethiopia's Tigray region killed 56 people and injured 30, including children, in a camp for displaced people," two aid workers told Reuters on Saturday, citing local authorities and eyewitness accounts.
The two workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that local authorities had confirmed the death toll, and both sent pictures of the injured, including many children, as they were taken to hospitals, including many children.
The two sources said that the strike targeted the camp located in the town of Didbet in the region near the border with Eritrea.
The Ethiopian raid on Tigray comes a day after the Ethiopian government announced the launching of a dialogue with opposition political figures in the context of paving the way for a permanent solution to Ethiopia's problems in a peaceful manner for reaching a comprehensive national consultation.
