England issued fines up to £10,000 for people who refuse to self-isolate when required and for breaking Covid-19 self-isolation rules.

According to Guardian, with infections rising at rates last seen before the full lockdown in March, around four million people on low incomes and in receipt of benefits, who cannot work from home, will also be given special “stay home” payments of £500 to compensate for lost earnings over their two-week isolation periods.

Covid-19

Also, from 28 September, under the emergency package announced by the Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson last night; people will be required by law to self-isolate if they test positive or are contacted by the test and trace system as having been in contact with an infected person. Fines will start at £1,000, rising to £10,000 for “egregious” offences and serial offenders.

On other hand, Britain is facing a rapid increase in cases, and the government said police would be involved in checking compliance in areas with the highest infection rates.

Also, Johnson has faced calls to reintroduce more wide-ranging lockdown rules for the general public.

However, the Sunday Times reported, he was poised to reject calls from scientific advisors for an immediate two-week nationwide lockdown to slow the spread of the disease, and instead reconsider it when schools take a late-October break.

On other hand, officials explained NHS Test and Trace would be in regular contact with inpiduals told to self-isolate and would report any suspicions that people were not complying to the police and local authorities. Police will be stepping up compliance checks in Covid-19 hotspots and among groups considered to be high risk.

They will also follow up reports from members of the public about people who have tested positive but are not self-isolating, the Britain government reported.
