On Sunday afternoon, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, on a working visit.

The Turkish presidency published pictures of the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, welcoming the Emir of Qatar upon his arrival in Istanbul.

In a statement, it pointed out that "the Emir of Qatar is visiting Turkey on a working visit, following a violent earthquake that struck the city of Kahramanmaraş."

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) announced that the Emir of Qatar will visit Turkey, today, Sunday, on a working visit, and there he will meet his brother, Erdogan.

The visit of the Emir of Qatar to Turkey comes after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck, last Monday, parts of Turkey and Syria, followed by several strong aftershocks.

The Emir of Qatar said Doha will provide the necessary support to help Turkey and Syria mitigate the effects of the earthquake, which occurred at dawn today.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Doha has allocated 10,000 mobile homes to help those affected in Syria and Turkey, noting that these homes will be transferred to the affected areas, as part of continuous efforts to provide relief to those affected.

The earthquake in Turkey and Syria caused severe damage to thousands of buildings, including schools, health care facilities, and other public infrastructure such as roads, airports, ports, oil stations, power lines, water supply, and sanitation, and many aftershocks were recorded.
