Egypt’s Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects a further rise in temperatures across most parts of the country on Thursday, January 8, 2026. Despite the warmer trend, the weather will remain very cold during the early morning hours, mild during the daytime, and cold again at night and in the early morning.

Dense fog is expected to form between 3:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on several roads leading to and from northern regions, including Greater Cairo, the northern coast, Central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. In some areas, the fog may be thick, reducing visibility for drivers.

Low-level clouds will appear over parts of the northern coast, Greater Cairo, southern Delta areas, and the Canal cities. These clouds may bring light drizzle in isolated locations, while weak chances of light rain are forecast for parts of Halayeb and Shalateen.

Later in the evening and during the late-night hours, light to moderate rainfall is expected over parts of the northwestern coast and the northern Delta, with the possibility of heavier showers at times. Winds may become active in exposed areas and could raise sand and dust, extending to Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, and southern Delta regions.

In Cairo, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 25°C and a low of 14°C. Alexandria will see a high of 23°C and a low of 12°C, while Matrouh is forecast to record a high of 22°C and a low of 13°C.
