The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mohamed El-Quseir, expressed Egypt's support for the agricultural sector efforts of the African Union (AU) and countries in Africa.

He emphasized the significance of the sector in achieving food security for the people of the African continent, especially with the current challenges and unrest that have negatively affected supply chains, financing, and the prices of agricultural and food commodities.

The Minister made these remarks during his meetings with the Kenyan Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister of International Cooperation in Norway, the Ministers of Agriculture in Rwanda and Uganda, and various representatives and heads of international and regional organizations and unions. These meetings took place at the Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Fertilizers and Soil Health Summit was held from May 7 to 9, under the patronage of Kenyan President William Ruto.

Over 30 ministers of agriculture from African countries attended the summit, which included ministerial sessions for agriculture and foreign affairs ministers. The summit resulted in a ministerial declaration that included recommendations and commitments to double the production of agricultural fertilizers in African countries and adopt sustainable soil management practices.

The purpose of these commitments is to increase agricultural production, raise the level of well-being of African peoples, and work towards an Africa free of poverty and hunger.
