The head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ehab El-Far said on Sunday:” Today, we continue the process of achievements by opening a giant industrial edifice “Mostorod refinery”.

In his word during the inauguration of a number of petroleum projects in Mostorod, El-Far added that the opening of Hydrogen Cracking Complex coincides with the development of the roads and axes in East Cairo.

He explained that the cost of the projects that are being implemented now in the second phase is estimated at LE 5.7 billion.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is inaugurating the Mostorod refinery, located in eastern Cairo, on Sunday in the presence of the Minister of Oil and Petroleum and a number of high-level officials, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

The Mostorod refinery is situated near Cairo and is already one of Egypt’s largest refineries, with a throughput of 142,000 barrels per day (bpd).

As part of an ongoing programme by the Egyptian Government to increase the oil-processing capacity of the country, the site is now being developed with a further refinery being constructed adjacent to it (the Citadel refinery).
