Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy held a meeting with the British Trade Envoy to Africa, John Humphrey, and UK Ambassador to Cairo, Gareth Bayley, to explore opportunities for tourism investment and enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting underscored the strong and growing relationship between Egypt and the United Kingdom, particularly in the fields of tourism and antiquities.
During the meeting, Minister Fathy highlighted Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings, emphasizing the ministry's focus on developing individual tourism products to position Egypt as a top global destination.
He reiterated Egypt's commitment to encouraging both local and international investments in the tourism sector, particularly in hospitality.
The Minister also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with the UK in various investment areas, especially tourism, which is of mutual importance to both countries.
The discussions included strategies to attract more high-spending British tourists to Egypt and explore joint promotional campaigns aimed at targeted tourist segments.
The meeting also focused on promoting sports tourism, encouraging British sports teams and organizations to hold training camps in Egypt's various tourist destinations.
Additionally, the two sides discussed organizing professional workshops between British and Egyptian tour operators, as well as familiarization trips for British media representatives, influencers, and travel agents to showcase Egypt’s rich tourism offerings.
Efforts to increase the number of flights from various UK cities to Egypt's tourist destinations were also on the agenda.
The British delegation expressed the UK's commitment to boosting its investments in Egypt, working collaboratively to enhance business and investment ties between the two nations while building capacities in key sectors.
