Egypt's Presidency of the Republic mourned the death of the late Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the former Minister of Defense and Military Production.
The Presidency of the Republic said in a statement this morning, "Egypt has lost one of its most loyal sons and one of its military symbols, who dedicated his life to serve his country for more than half a century. The late Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, ... one of the heroes of the Glorious October War, during which he contributed to the greatest glories and heroisms recorded in letters of light in Egyptian history..
A leader ... and a statesman who assumed responsibility at a very difficult period, during which he wisely and competently confronted the imminent risks that surrounded Egypt."
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi mourned the death of the late Field Marshal Tantawi , and expressed on behalf of the people and government of Egypt his sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the late Field Marshal, asking God Almighty to grant the deceased his mercy.
