Dr. Hanafy Gebali, Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, opened Tuesday's session with a historic address concerning the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, describing the Israeli aggression as a "humanitarian nightmare."

During his address, Speaker Gebali detailed the Egyptian Parliament's close monitoring of the fluctuating situation in the occupied Palestinian territories over the past 24 hours. He highlighted that Hamas had accepted a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, a move facilitated by significant Egyptian and joint Egyptian-Qatari mediation efforts, aimed at ending the ongoing humanitarian crisis that Gaza residents have endured for more than 200 days. Despite this, the Israeli government has issued an evacuation order to the residents of Rafah's eastern districts, signaling a potential ground assault on the city, which was followed by airstrikes and fiery shelling.

Speaker Gebali stated that the Egyptian Parliament holds all parties involved, especially the Israeli government, fully responsible for any actions that escalate the situation and undermine the negotiation process aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution that preserves civilian lives.

The House urged all parties to recognize the complexity and sensitivity of the situation, emphasizing that no side holds a superior position. The Parliament advocates for dialogue and negotiation as the means to resolve disputes, rather than resorting to armed conflict. The goal is to reach an agreement that ends the suffering of the Palestinian people, facilitates the exchange of hostages and prisoners, and paves the way for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Additionally, Speaker Gebali called on the international community to break its "shameful silence" and adopt measures that prevent further crimes against the Palestinian people. He urged Israel to adopt a peace-oriented approach to achieve a just and peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue.

Praising Egypt's role, Speaker Gebali highlighted the continuous Egyptian efforts to broker peace and protect lives, which have not ceased despite facing significant challenges.

In conclusion, he reaffirmed the Egyptian Parliament's support for the steadfast steps taken by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in protecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He commended President El-Sisi's relentless efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Palestinian territories, underscoring his commitment to safeguarding these rights without compromise or recklessness.
