The Egyptian Government denied on Sunday reports on the increase of ticket prices for public transport across the nation after the latest hike in fuel prices.
According to a statement recently issued by the Cabinet media center, the Ministry of Local Development affirmed that there is no increase in fare prices as heavy fuel price remains unchangeable at EGP 7.25 per liter.
The ministry promised in this regard to carrying out campaigns on all public transport stations to detect any violation, the statement added.
Also, it called on all media outlets to verify the authenticity of any report before publishing it to avoid disrupting public order.
It's worth mentioning that Egypt’s FAPC raised last week fuel prices for various octanes by EGP 0.75, keeping the price of mazut for electricity and food industries fixed, during the third quarter of the year due to the global rise in oil prices.
