Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in water resource management with Aleksandar Martinović, Serbia's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, on Wednesday.
The signing ceremony, held at the Serbian government headquarters, was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and marked another step in the growing partnership between the two nations.
During his visit to Belgrade, Abdelatty held discussions with Serbian Prime Minister Vučević, where he highlighted the significance of recent high-level exchanges.
He referred to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s historic visit to Serbia in July 2022, which laid the foundation for enhanced cooperation across various fields, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s visit to Cairo in July 2024, which focused on advancing economic and trade relations.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum through continued high-level visits, noting the Serbian First Lady’s visit to Aswan in November 2024 to participate in the Arab-African Investment Summit.
The minister stressed the need for ongoing political consultations between Egypt and Serbia to address shared priorities and discuss regional and international issues.
He also welcomed the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations in July 2024, describing it as a transformative milestone expected to significantly boost trade and economic cooperation in the coming years.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to hosting the 19th session of the Joint Economic Committee in Cairo during the second half of 2025 and emphasized the importance of regular meetings of the Joint Business Council to expand economic ties.
