Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, received Grand Mufti of the Republic Nazir Ayyad on Tuesday. He stressed the critical role played by Dar al-Ifta in promoting moderate Islamic values and countering extremism.
During the meeting, Abdelatty praised the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dar al-Ifta, highlighting the importance of continued coordination between Egypt’s embassies abroad and the Mufti’s institution. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to supporting the Grand Mufti’s international engagements, ensuring that Egypt’s unique model of religious moderation is shared globally.
The Foreign Minister stressed the value of organizing lectures and seminars for Egyptian communities abroad, led by the Grand Mufti, to reinforce cultural and religious identity. He also noted that such outreach plays a vital role in promoting Egypt’s global image as a nation rooted in principles of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and religious balance.
The minister also reaffirmed the high intellectual and religious standing of the Grand Mufti and praised his efforts in building bridges of understanding between cultures and peoples.
