Badr Abdel-Ati, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs conducted intensive contacts over the past hours, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with a number of his Arab counterparts, including the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain (which currently chairs the Arab Summit), Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania and Sudan.
This comes within the framework of coordinating Arab positions and consulting on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The contacts resulted in the exchange of views on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the emphasis on the constants of the Arab position towards the Palestinian issue. It rejects all measures aimed at expelling the Palestinian people from their land or encouraging their settlement in other countries outside the Palestinian territories.
These views and ideas constitute a flagrant violation of international law, a violation of Palestinian rights, a threat to security and stability in the region, and an undermining of the prospects for peace and coexistence among its peoples.
The contacts also reflected a consensus on the need to seek a lasting and just political solution to the Palestinian issue. This is the only practical path, which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the lines of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.
Minister Abdel-Ati reviewed Egypt's efforts to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the implementation of all its provisions during the three periods, the speed of humanitarian aid delivery, as well as the efforts to move forward with initial reconstruction projects and programs, the removal of debris and reconstruction without the exit of the Palestinians from Gaza, stressing Egypt's support for the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
The Arab ministers agreed to intensify contacts with each other in the future and continue consultation and coordination with other Arab ministers.
