Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs made a series of phone calls with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania Mahmoud Thabet Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Comoros Mohamed Mbaye, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gambia Mamadou Tangara, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar Rasata Rafaravavitavika.
Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the calls addressed ways to enhance cooperation mechanisms between Egypt and African countries in various fields to serve common interests and achieve sustainable development in the African continent.
Minister Abdel Aati stressed Egypt's keenness to continue supporting African countries in priority areas, most notably infrastructure, renewable energy, education, and health, in addition to Egypt's readiness to continue providing technical support, training programs, and capacity building in African countries. He also stressed the importance of enhancing trade exchange and economic cooperation, noting in this context the contributions of Egyptian companies in Africa and their readiness to intensify their activity on the continent to help African countries support development efforts in various fields.
The official spokesman added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed during the contacts the Egyptian efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability and continental integration, stressing the importance of coordination to confront common cross-border challenges, including combating terrorism, climate change, and food security.
He stressed the need to enhance cooperation between African countries within the framework of the African Union and other regional organizations to advance development on the continent, in a way that enhances African cooperation and achieves the interests of the brotherly African peoples.
The ministers expressed their appreciation for Egypt's leading role in supporting African issues, praising the Egyptian efforts made to achieve regional integration and enhance the partnership between Egypt and the countries of the continent. They also stressed their desire to enhance cooperation with Egypt in various areas of common priority.
At the conclusion of these contacts, it was agreed to continue consultation and coordination at all levels to develop relations and enhance joint cooperation, in addition to supporting mutual nominations in regional and international institutions, most notably the African Union.
