Egypt's exports of food industries to Sudan increased by 79% during the first three quarters of 2020 to record about $57 million, compared to $32 million, year-on-year.
The Food Industries Export Council (FEC) said that Sudan occupied the fifteenth position in the list of the biggest importing countries for the sector's products during that period.
The council explained that the most exported Egyptian commodities to Sudan were sugar with a value of $15 million, followed by yeasts with a value of $8 million, biscuits and cereals with a value of $5.5 million, and beverages' concentrates with $5 million.
The value of Egyptian frankincense exports to Sudan within 9 months reached about $4 million, chocolate exports reached about $3.8 million, and flour reached $3.7 million. Also, exports of tobacco recorded about $2.2 million, and dry candy reached a value of $1.7 million.
The council added that as part of its plan to increase exports to Africa, it held a number of intensive virtual bilateral meetings between the Sudanese Free Zones & Markets (SFZ) and 13 Egyptian companies from the Council’s members in the food industry sector.
