El-Nasr Salines Company, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Chemical Industries under Egypt’s Ministry of Public Business Sector, has successfully exported the largest shipment of washed salt in its history through the New Arish Port, marking a major milestone in the company’s production and export performance.

The shipment, destined for the United States market, amounted to approximately 47,000 tons of washed salt, reflecting the significant progress achieved by the company in recent years in terms of operational efficiency, production capacity, and export readiness.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Business Sector on Friday, additional quantities are scheduled to be shipped later this month under existing export contracts to several markets across Africa, Europe, and North America. The expansion is expected to further strengthen the presence of Egyptian salt products in international markets.

The export achievement comes in parallel with a sharp improvement in the company’s financial performance. El-Nasr Salines reported profits of EGP 138 million in the 2024/25 fiscal year, representing a 92% increase compared to the previous year. Officials say the growth underscores the success of restructuring and development plans implemented over the past period and reinforces the company’s ability to achieve sustainable growth and global competitiveness.

Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimi said the ministry places strong emphasis on supporting national industry, increasing reliance on locally manufactured products, and boosting exports as a key driver of economic growth. He noted that public-sector companies possess valuable assets and long-standing expertise that qualify them to play a central role in supporting the national economy and opening new markets for Egyptian products.

Shimi added that El-Nasr Salines’ performance reflects the ministry’s broader vision of transforming affiliated companies into strong economic entities capable of competing regionally and internationally. This strategy, he said, is based on continuous modernization, improving product quality, complying with global standards, and maximizing the utilization of available natural resources to increase exports and foreign currency inflows.

El-Nasr Salines operates four main production sites: Sebika Saline in Arish, Borg El Arab Saline west of Alexandria, El-Mex Saline in Alexandria, and Port Said Saline in Port Fouad. The company produces a wide range of products, including high-purity washed salt for food industries, washed industrial salt, de-icing salts, and refined table salt manufactured at its Sebika facilities.

While part of the company’s output is directed to the domestic market and major industrial consumers, the majority is exported to markets in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Arab countries, supported by high quality and specifications that meet international market requirements.

Sebika Saline, located on the Mediterranean coast in the city of Arish, is one of the company’s largest and most strategic assets. Covering an area of around 26 square kilometers, the site hosts advanced production lines, including a Spanish processing plant with a capacity of 15 tons per hour, three washing units with a combined capacity of 450 tons per hour, and crushing and screening units capable of handling 100 tons per hour.

Production at Sebika reached around one million tons of raw salt last year, with plans to reach its full design capacity of 1.3 million tons within the next two years. The site’s contribution to the company’s total sales rose from 30.5% in June 2023 to more than 55% by the end of December 2025.
